Dear sir: Re: The international bridge between Fort Frances, Ont. and International Falls, Mn. It is very disappointing that the federal Liberal government is not prepared to act on the purchase of this bridge in a timely manner. The ministers of transport and industry say they want to “slow down […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: I’m writing in regards to the article on the old Cloverleaf store in Emo that appeared in last week’s Times, under the bold headline: “Solution needed when butchering wild game.” First you say not everyone would like to view this. My solution is just don’t look at it. […]
Dear sir: I am writing this letter on my own behalf in hopes Fort Frances residents will be aware of a decision their town council made at Monday night’s meeting. The dispatch services that were provided by the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service, not only to our town but […]
Dear editor: I am writing to express my opinion in regards to plans for a new library. As we all know, the Town of Fort Frances has outgrown the current site and a new building is desperately needed. Space is limited and the building is not handicap-accessible. The accessibility issue […]
To the editor: Not too long ago, Rainy River and Baudette got together and formed a company to build a new bridge across the river. They got help from both provincial and state governments. They sold shares in their company. The company let a contract and, with some problems, the […]
Dear editor: It was nice to see the story and pictures of the planting of the tulips presented to Fort Frances in celebration of the liberation of the Netherlands. However, it was disheartening to see no mention was made of the sponsoring groups that put so much time, effort, and […]
Dear editor: There has been a significant amount of discussion (and rightfully so) in the community recently concerning the future of health care in Fort Frances. The one thing that most can agree on is that we are at, or very near, a crisis situation and something needs to be […]
Dear sir: I would like to respond to Mr. Robert Dakin’s letter to the editor in the Nov. 2 issue of the Fort Frances Times. Mr. Dakin, I was shocked (to say the least) when I read your letter to the editor regarding the “Scott Street Scare.” Do you know […]
Dear sir: Mr. Dakin, in response to your letter to the editor dated Nov. 2, 2005, I was very hurt and disturbed that you would, for one second, even think this is about anything other than keeping our children safe. You really should get your facts and information straight before […]
Dear sir: I was very upset to read an article in the Fort Frances Times dated Oct. 5, 2005 regarding Fort Frances Aquanauts swim coach Roman Ramirez. According to the article, Coach Ramirez has been told by the Memorial Sports Centre staff that he cannot coach a few high-level swimmers […]
Dear editor: I live in the north end of town. A few years back, before the Scott Street Scare, I handed out treats to around 90-100 children. This year to only 46—around half as many. Last year, Hallowe’en fell on a Sunday. That was a great year as there wasn’t […]
Dear sir: I would like to thank the students and support staff of “What’s In a Name” for the outstanding evening of entertainment they provided. The show was well-organized and totally enjoyable from start to finish. My only regret in seeing it Friday night was that it was the last […]
