Dear editor: The Festival Committee wishes to extend a sincere apology to all those affected by the error in programming for the “highlights concert” on Saturday evening. For some unfortunate reason, a time to hand out awards to people who were not actually performing at the concert was omitted. The […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: In regards to the proposal to re-route traffic in Fort Frances, I noticed the town would have to resurface Second Street East because of the fact it would turn into a highway. I am sure the final price tag would be in the millions. With that being said, […]
Dear sir: We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the residents of Fort Frances, Couchiching, Emo, Blackhawk, Bergland, and Sleeman for coming through with your generous support of the Kidney Foundation during its recent door-to-door campaign. Because of you, as well as the zone captains and […]
Dear editor: For the past several years, I have had the incredible privilege of coaching the Little League baseball team based out of Emo, Manitou Rapids, Barwick, and Stratton area. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our past and present sponsors. In our inaugural year, we […]
Dear editor: In response to the letter to editor in last week’s Times headlined “Witch hunt,” we will attempt to try to set the record straight. Being elected members of council, it is our duty to act on issues in the best interest of the taxpayers. When council expense questions […]
Dear editor: I’m writing to try to clear up some misunderstandings that Mr. Watt indicated in his letter of last week regarding secondary occasional teachers. Numerous newspaper articles and radio reports have clearly stated that the secondary occasional teachers are not interested in obtaining more money than was negotiated recently […]
Dear editor: National Volunteer Week (April 23-29) pays tribute to the millions of Canadian volunteers across the country who give their time to help their communities. National Volunteer Week is a time for all of us to take part and celebrate the energy and commitment of volunteers. Volunteers read, cook, […]
Dear sir: I visit the town of Fort Frances each year when I visit my sister, Liz Clark. I find everyone in the town to be so warm and friendly, and over the years it has become a second home. As yet, I have not experienced the winters although I’ve […]
Dear editor: Over the past several weeks, the Fort Frances Times has published a few articles and an editorial that contain misleading information, untruthful distorted facts, or interviews derived from some councillors solely for political reasons. I was never asked to comment or respond to comments or allegations being published, […]
Dear editor It’s interesting that in Mr. Boshcoff’s column last week, while trashing the Conservative childcare plan, he made the Liberal Party sound like the saviours of national childcare! Here is the Liberal “legacy” regarding this issue: 1993—Liberals make a solemn promise to implement a national childcare program and win […]
Dear editor: In regards to the Fort Frances cam, I’m sure the location is great to glimpse the mill in certain lighting situations. But when I think of Fort Frances, I think of downtown (Scott Street). Would others also prefer viewing downtown? Perhaps this also is a way to promote […]
Dear editor: The purpose of this letter is to clarify a few misconceptions about the secondary occasional teachers. First of all, we are not all retirees. I, personally, graduated university with a BA/BEd in May, 2005. I moved here with my husband in August, 2005 because the Rainy River District […]
