Dear sir: Re: “From the Publisher’s Pen” of Aug. 23, 2006 (Why can’t we generate energy?). Your article touches on matters the resolution of which I believe will have very significant and long-term ramifications for Rainy River District. It is because of my concern for the district, and my on-going […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: I would like to thank everyone who helped make my bike ride to Emo for Terry Fox a success. To everyone who donated money, wished me well, and said a few prayers, I thank you, Also to my family for their support and help, and for the welcoming […]
Dear editor: One of our favourite bass tournaments was the Morson Bass Classic. When it was changed to a new site and title, the Morson Bass International, we were not concerned until we found out it went from a two-day tournament to a three-day one—and the entry fee was increased […]

Dear editor: It has been a very busy season for many of the animal bylaw officers right across the region. I am from Fort Frances and as of Aug. 18, we have had 44 reported bear sightings. Out of these 44 sightings, five bears had to be immobilized and two […]

Dear editor: I am pleased that Mr. Boshcoff supports a new energy policy for Northwestern Ontario (“A solution worth pursuing”), but I find two things he says more than a little disturbing. First, he personally takes credit for the idea of a new electricity policy for the north. We all […]
Dear editor: Last weekend while at our cottage in the Morson area, a very nice black Lab came to visit. He was very hungry and skinny, having been on the move for a while, I imagine. Our family loves animals, having dogs in all our households, so he came to […]
Dear editor: It is with great appreciation that we inform the citizens of Rainy River District that our son, Kuentin, has been relocated to the Community Living in Toronto and reunited with his family. This would not have been possible without the help and support of many people in the […]
Dear Mr. Editor: Let’s talk road rage. I’m sure this happens every day but until Aug. 4, It hadn’t happened to me. After waiting in line to go to the Falls for a half-hour, we were at the mill where the big sign says “Do Not Block This Opening.” There […]
To the Editor: A new agreement between Canada and the U.S. is needed to properly consider recreation as commerce and to resolve issues on use of Ontario-Minnesota border waters. The 1909 boundary waters treaty was designed to forever guarantee freedom of navigation on waters through which the international boundary passes. […]
Dear editor: It’s interesting that in Mr. Boshcoff’s article last week (View From The Hill) he blames the NDP for the Liberal’s lack of action on National Childcare. He makes the Liberal Party sound like the saviours of national childcare! Here is the Liberal “legacy” regarding this issue: •1993 Liberals […]
