Recognize volunteers

Dear editor:
National Volunteer Week (April 23-29) pays tribute to the millions of Canadian volunteers across the country who give their time to help their communities.
National Volunteer Week is a time for all of us to take part and celebrate the energy and commitment of volunteers.
Volunteers read, cook, drive, mentor, and train. They donate, give, support, and lend a helping hand. They are the young and the old. They are everywhere in our communities.
According to the 2003 national survey of non-profit and voluntary organizations, Canadians volunteer more than two billion hours a year. They have an enormous impact on society.
Family and Children Services of the District of Rainy River recognizes that volunteers play a valuable and integral role in the provision of service to children, youth, and their families.
Volunteers complement and enhance the service provided by our staff, as well as assist in building bridges between our clients and communities.
Help us celebrate National Volunteer Week. Be sure to reach out and thank someone you know who volunteers.
