Dear sir: This so-called “health capsule” appeared (on page C7) in the Times, on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006. This is a terrible piece of misinformation to pass out as fact. The author of this “capsule” has very little, or no knowledge of the milk process, either on the farm or […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
To the Editor, When tourists cross the border at Fort Frances, Ontario, there is a wall that reads, “The Great Canadian Experience.” Below this should be a sign that reads, “If you can get in.” Canadian Immigration is out of control and now refusing entry to countless visitors almost every […]
Dear editor: In response to the “band” letter in the July 5 edition of the Times, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the music teachers at Fort Frances High School for the excellent job they’ve done over the many years in providing the students of this district […]
Dear Mr. Editor: Here’s a P.O.O.P. (Proud Of Our Parks) letter for people to think about. All too often it seems people find it easy to take pen to hand when it comes to criticizing, but where are their pens when it comes to voicing a little praise and appreciation? […]
Dear friends and supporters, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays! God has blessed us with wonderful weather this year. I’m writing to you today because there are people in this district and community that aren’t able to enjoy the summer like the rest of us. They are turning […]
Dear editor, Another night to remember–July 1st fireworks in Fort Frances–2006! Wow! Thanks to many volunteers, we were privy to an outstanding display, lasting approximately twenty minutes, double last year’s duration. This year Peter Palmer from CanFire out of Sundown, Manitoba was the provider of the fireworks and organizer of […]
Dear editor: The Fourth of July (Independence Day in the U.S.) was a more complete success in Biwabik, Mn. (about 90 miles south of Fort Frances) because of the participation of the Fort Frances Highlanders. What a wonderful bagpipe band. They were the hit of the parade. The diversity of […]
Dear editor: Over the past several weeks, the Fort Frances Times has published a few articles and an editorial that contain misleading information, untruthful distorted facts, or interviews derived from some councillors solely for political reasons. I was never asked to comment or respond to comments or allegations being published, […]
Dear editor: My husband, who suffered a severe stroke on July 23, 2004, must use his walker to get from the car to the end of the dock where our boat is docked. Walking down the dock takes him three times longer than it would have normally (and is sometimes […]
Dear editor: I would like to extend a large thank you to the many people and sponsors who helped make the WISSOTA Super Stock Special at the Emo Speedway on Saturday a huge success. There were 15 Super Stocks from Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Bemidji, Mn., and Ashland, Wis. Racing has […]
Dear friends, As we will be moving to British Columbia, we would like to thank everyone who extended their support and friendship to us during our five years here in Fort Frances. We will miss our friends, and especially the Aquanaut swimmers. We wish them well in the future. We […]
Dear editor: Ongoing discussion by politicians in Canada and the United States has created misunderstandings and worry of crossing the Canada/U.S. border. This confusion is detrimental to tourism and service operators on both sides of the border, but more importantly, it is unfounded. Our organization, the Easy Crossing Council (ECC), […]
