Dear editor: Over the past several weeks, the Fort Frances Times has published a few articles and an editorial that contain misleading information, untruthful distorted facts, or interviews derived from some councillors solely for political reasons. I was never asked to comment or respond to comments or allegations being published, […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: My husband, who suffered a severe stroke on July 23, 2004, must use his walker to get from the car to the end of the dock where our boat is docked. Walking down the dock takes him three times longer than it would have normally (and is sometimes […]
Dear editor: I would like to extend a large thank you to the many people and sponsors who helped make the WISSOTA Super Stock Special at the Emo Speedway on Saturday a huge success. There were 15 Super Stocks from Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Bemidji, Mn., and Ashland, Wis. Racing has […]
Dear friends, As we will be moving to British Columbia, we would like to thank everyone who extended their support and friendship to us during our five years here in Fort Frances. We will miss our friends, and especially the Aquanaut swimmers. We wish them well in the future. We […]
Dear editor: Ongoing discussion by politicians in Canada and the United States has created misunderstandings and worry of crossing the Canada/U.S. border. This confusion is detrimental to tourism and service operators on both sides of the border, but more importantly, it is unfounded. Our organization, the Easy Crossing Council (ECC), […]
Mr. Editor: I would like a small space in your paper to say how Craig Brockie’s Wellness Center helped me. Last November, I got a real bad backache. I took pain pills, as well as had four chiropractic treatments, but they all didn’t help. It got so I couldn’t sit […]
Dear editor: On July 1, 2006, my family was travelling to Helliar’s Resort in Nestor Falls on our annual family fishing trip. We, as a family, have been going to Helliar’s since 1982. I am now 33 and only missed a few years due to military service. In the last […]
Dear sir: We are writing to you on behalf of my mother. Many of you either know her or are just familiar with her home. It’s the house on the corner of Sixth Street and Cornwall Avenue with all the little dwarfs under her trees. Well, at least it used […]
Dear editor: I would like to take the time to thank Bill and Nellie Godin of Lake Despair Lodge, and the volunteers and sponsors of the 2006 “Castin’ for Cash” bass tournament, for putting on yet another fun and successful event. I’m already looking forward to next year! Thanks, Davis […]
Dear editor: I wish to write to Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Ken Boshcoff and Kenora MP Roger Valley to advise them of a serious problem in the tourist industry of Northwestern Ontario, which came to a head at the establishment our family has operated here at Nestor Falls for the […]
Dear editor: The Fourth of July (Independence Day in the U.S.) was a more complete success in Biwabik, Mn. (about 90 miles south of Fort Frances) because of the participation of the Fort Frances Highlanders. What a wonderful bagpipe band. They were the hit of the parade. The diversity of […]
Dear editor: In response to the “band” letter in the July 5 edition of the Times, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the music teachers at Fort Frances High School for the excellent job they’ve done over the many years in providing the students of this district […]
