Help us help others

Dear editor:
I wish to thank residents for being loyal supporters of the Salvation Army in Fort Frances and Rainy River District. Without their support, our ministry would not be possible.
During the month of May, Salvation Army officers, employees, and volunteers will embark on an awareness and fundraising campaign to support a wide variety of our programs and services.
The theme of this year’s campaign is “Together Bringing Help and Hope to the People in Need.”
As the Salvation Army continues to serve more than 1.5 million people every year in Canada, it becomes increasingly apparent that many in our own community live perilously close to the poverty line.
Locally, the food bank served more than 600 families in our district last year.
The number of food banks in Canada has tripled during the last 15 years, and while the Salvation Army remains a key agency in the battle against hunger, we still need your help.
Food is a basic necessity of life, and by simply providing a meal and a friendly face, you can help give hope for a brighter tomorrow. Your financial donation is the key in helping us to help others.
Thank you for your support in the past, and we are looking forward to working together with you again.
Committed to the Lord,
Capt. Angel Sandoval
