Mike Anderson Dear editor: I had the pleasure of watching the festival highlights concert at the Townshend Theatre on Sunday, May 8. I am writing this letter to congratulate Mr. Brown of St. Michael’s School on the terrific job that he has done with his choir. Mr. Brown’s group performed […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Carrie (LaBelle) Shypit Dear editor: Anyone travelling to Winnipeg should be advised that there is a woman in her late 50s, with long brownish/grey hair and glasses, claiming to be an ex-wife, wife, or sister of my father, Dale LaBelle. She tells people she has lost her wallet and all […]
Michael McKinnon Dear Mike: I was shocked to read the following in the April 20 letter from Glenda Belluz, a former trustee of the Rainy River District School Board: “Mr. Kircher and Mr. Lewis had said during their campaigns that they would go in and clean up the board and […]
Dear sir: I feel compelled to reply to the letter of April 20 from Doug Anderson, complaining about the cost of this election and pleading for a vote for the Conservatives so Mr. Harper can form a majority government. With a majority government, Mr. Harper can brush aside the opposition […]
Dear editor: Coach: A trainer of sports players and athletes. To me, Dave Bondett was much more than that. For the last five years, Dave not only has been moulding me and my curling teammates into the club champions we have become, but he has helped me become the young […]
Dear editor: This is the fourth election in seven years coming up on May 2. This one’s gonna cost $400 million. Guess who gets to pay for it? This election wasn’t necessary. This election was forced upon us by the Liberal and NDP parties. Just take a second to think […]
Dear editor: I am writing in response to the several concerns that have come up about the missing funds from Fort Frances High School. The public has every right to an explanation on how things could have gone undetected and unanswered for so long. Unfortunately, because the issue is still […]
Dear editor: CBC, CBC French, CBCN, and TVOntario are all paid for by us, the Ontario taxpayer. If we put up an antenna to try and get CBC and CBC French (one tower in Blackhawk and a second tower near Emo), only one channel can be tuned in at a […]
Dear editor: Upon reading Mr. Belluz’ letter to the editor in the April 13 edition of the Times, it struck me that most of the initiatives he cited were from provincial origins. However, it was extremely interesting that Mr. Belluz could recount so many accomplishments to take credit for. It […]
Dear editor: I am trying to follow basic arithmetic formulas to arrive at the logic our town employees, councillors, and mayor are following to arrive at in costing out and charging for the use of water and sewer, but having no success in arriving at a logical answer. There are […]
Hayden Beckett Dear Mr. Editor: My name is Hayden Beckett. I am writing to thank all of my coaches from IP1 Timbits hockey. I had a great time in my first season. The coaches and parent volunteers made my first season of hockey amazing! I had a coach who worked […]
Dan Belluz Dear editor: What has the previous school board done over the past number of years? It kept the focus on the students in our system while being fiscally responsible! The previous board created strategic plans that were student-focused and consistently passed balanced budgets that supported the students in […]
