Frank Fraser Dear editor: I would like to extend my apologies to the two “young ladies” who were at our front door at 2 a.m. this past Saturday (April 9). We were watching a movie, and dozing off on the couch, when I heard what I thought was something scratching […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Ken Grynol Dear editor: I wish to applaud all the people who came out to the April 5 public school board meeting in total support of David Kircher. This meeting should have been held in a larger room. The walls were lined up with people standing, both doorways were jammed, […]
Walter Horban Dear editor: An overflow crowd of people came out in support of David Kircher at last week’s public school board meeting at Robert Moore. They were disappointed that the board’s vote had not changed and that Mr. Kircher would be censured. Their feeling was that Mr. Kircher had […]
Melanie Mathieson Dear editor: With the pending election, there are no shortages of campaign workers contacting us at home. On April 4, I was contacted by a campaign employee representing NDP candidate John Rafferty. This call was annoying to begin with, coming during dinner at 6:10 p.m., and the caller […]
Robin McQuaker Dear editor: Since the announcement of the latest unnecessary federal election, I can’t help but notice how biased and pro Liberal that CBC Television and its anchors are. It’s to the point where they are attempting to make policy. I find this disgusting. I also wish that Peter […]
Tom Pearson Dear Mike, I read about the criminal who was trying to smuggle his children into Canada and was caught at the border in Fort Frances. I commend you [Canada Customs] on a great job. He was a criminal and should be treated as such. I also just was […]
Glen Jackson Dear editor: On behalf of all the curlers taking part in the recent truckers’ and loggers’ bonspiel in Stratton, we all would like to say a great big thank you to Sandra Williams for once again organizing, finding sponsors, and cooking that great banquet meal to make this […]
Will Labovitch Dear editor: Greetings from south of the border. Here in Minnesota, attempts to start a third party movement by the Independence party (a.k.a. Jesse Ventura’s party) have ended in victories for the Conservative-like Republicans due to vote splitting among the Democrats. This even happened in International Falls as […]
Carole and Randy Wilde Dear editor: For all those public school tax supporters who voted for David Kircher in the last election, he needs your support now. Please show your support by attending the next public school board meeting on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at Robert Moore School. […]
Jim Sheppard Dear editor: The Fort Frances Scott Street Show and Shine will not take place this year. Due to the ongoing resistance, lack of co-operation, increased regulations, and frustrations of dealing with the Fort Frances town hall, the International Early Iron Car Club will be cruising west down Highway […]
Rosanne Farmer Dear Mike: The Dance Fire Memorial Committee would like to thank those individuals who helped make the first run of our “Dance is on Fire” book such a great success. After many comments and requests, we are considering a second run of our book. We are asking that […]
Joel Haugland Dear editor: Notwithstanding rough-and-tumble NHL games, hockey is an outstanding, entertaining, and enjoyable sport. On the other hand, officials and flamboyant, self-aggrandizing promoters, claiming that “roughing is part of the game” and that players are “heroes,” strips NHL games from the realm of sports. Sports are characterized by […]
