Dear sir: I want to say a special thank you to someone who helped me several weeks ago. I truly believe in guardian angels, and on this particular day this lady was mine. I remember her as a friendly patron when I worked at the public library but unfortunately her […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Emo Centennial Committee, who made Emo’s 100th birthday celebrations an enjoyable, fun-filled year. My family and I took in many of the events and had a great time at them all. This wonderful group spent a lot of […]
Dear sir: The grade 3/4 class at Alberton Central School has enjoyed some activities courtesy of Henry Miller and the OFAH “Adopt-a-School” program through the local Sportsmen’s Club. As part of the science curriculum, Mr. Miller took our class on a field trip to study about trees, plants, and soil. […]
Dear sir: During the past week, federal and provincial finance ministers have been meeting to make suggestions on what to do with the projected surplus in the federal budget. It appears that most would like to see the income tax reduced. None of us enjoy paying taxes but we know […]
Dear sir: I live in Green Manor and have a nice little natural tree growing by my patio so I decorated it with Christmas tree lights. The next day, 12 lights were gone–taken right out of the socket. Then I added another set of lights and this morning [Friday], all […]
Dear sir: My best wishes and goodwill for the renewed arena. But who changes names in mid-stream? Unless it’s a business venture or a marriage–and sometimes not even then. So why strip the signature from our Memorial Arena? It’s our heritage from the past, it’s part of a legacy we […]
Dear editor: I would appreciate an opportunity to respond to a letter written by Crystal Rathwell, published in your Nov. 24 issue, regarding cancellation of the Remembrance Day ceremony at Barwick. Ms. Rathwell refers to the “powers that be” cancelling services in Barwick and says that no one could give […]
Dear editor: I want to give a huge heartfilled thank you to Dave Egan and the rest of the “Ice for Kids” committee. It has been a long uphill struggle all the way but you’ve done it! Our community now has a facility being built that we can all be […]
Dear editor: In response to the actions by “Ice for Kids” to back out of canteen operation at the new arena, I must say power to them. After following with interest the fundraising campaign for the new arena for years, and knowing the devotion given to it by Dave Egan […]
Dear sir: We, at Muskie Theatre, are writing neither to support nor to refute the events that happened at the high school on Friday, Nov. 12. Rather, we are writing this letter to tell you, the readers of this paper, what is good about our school and the people in […]
Dear sir: Please allow me to respond to the latest dose of angst in our community. I am listing the causes for the angsts as I see them. I. Our mayor and council ignored the obvious and selected a name other than “Ice for Kids” for the second ice surface. […]
To the editor: We are writing in regards to a problem that is caused by vehicles travelling too fast on the River Road. We live on the corner of Bone Road and River Road in Alberton Township, and we have resided in our home for more than eight years. In […]
