Homecoming plans

Dear sir:
The Lake of the Woods Millennium Committee is meeting on a regular basis to continue with the planning for the Homecoming to be held Aug. 4-7. With the year 2000 finally here, details of the event are rapidly taking shape to make this a weekend for all to remember.
Many of your readers may not be able to relate to the Township of Lake of the Woods so I would like to take this opportunity to inform them the Homecoming planned is for our friends and neighbours, near and far, who have ever called this part of the Rainy River District “home.”
This area includes the townships of McCrosson/Tovell, Morson, Sutherland, Pratt, Spohn, and, of course, all present and former residents of the Lake of the Woods–not just year-round ones but also our seasonal residents, both past and present.
One of the events we’re planning is a parade from the school to the recreation complex in Bergland. We invite all local organizations, businesses, and individuals to take part.
The committee is looking forward to welcoming you all to this Homecoming. We would ask that your readers pass this invitation on to anyone who has not heard about this fun-filled weekend.
For more information or to register, or receive a copy of our latest newsletter, please contact our committee. We can be reached by mail to Sheila Gate, RR#1, Sleeman, Ont. or phone 1-807-488-5733. We also can be reached by e-mail at lcminis@jam21.net or vpizey@kenora.com
We thank you for this opportunity to keep everyone up to date with our plans for this summer, and would encourage your readers to contact us directly for more information.
Yours truly,
Sheila Gate
