Worth keeping

Dear sir:
There is speculation to privatize the Fort Frances Airport. The council is supposed to be representatives of the taxpayers but I think they are being brainwashed–and the taxpayers are left in the dark.
Very few taxpayers are aware of how many air ambulance flights take off and return night and day. This is available to all municipalities in the area if and when needed.
Suppose an individual was to take control of the operation of the airport and form a small company. He could slough off regulations and restrictions, pocket the revenue, and in a year or so apply for bankruptcy. The taxpayers’ airport would be lost and no place for a medivac to land or take off.
I, myself, put in many hours with private equipment, which I enjoyed, to keep brush and debris under control to keep the airport clean, as the airport is understaffed to keep up with all maintenance.
The Falls Airport is offering low transportation fares but what about the future. If an individual needs an air ambulance from the Falls, he or she could well pay through the nose.
The federal government built up many small airports at millions of dollars expense and implemented operating regulations. Then they tired of them, leaving townships to operate them.
I feel anyone who has had this service, or needs to have this service available, should feel the airport is worth keeping.
Signed,
S. Caul
