Dear sir: Thank you for redoing your Web site. It’s great! I can now find everything I want to read about the latest happenings in Fort Frances. In the past, I have tried the Web site and found it to be difficult to get around in. The new one has […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: I would like to compliment the staff at the Sportsplex for the excellent job they all did for the kids during “Summer Explorers.” Lyle really enjoyed it, and the staff kept the kids all occupied with crafts, places to go, and things to see and learn. It was […]
Dear sir: I would like to know why the board of the Fort Frances and District Association for Community Living will not start talks with CUPE #65 to settle this strike. This cannot be working as why do they have to get people to do things (like doctor appointments, etc.) […]
Dear Mr. Behan I am writing in response to your article titled “Apology Needed” in reference to Mayor Witherspoon. I am compelled to respond and defend Mayor Witherspoon’s years of public service, dedication and commitment as a civil servant for your community. When the Mayor wrote that letter he never […]
Dear sir: At the time of putting together this little letter, my wife and the other workers at the Fort Frances and District Association for Community Living, have been out on the picket for 105 days. This is far too long, and as far as the level of client service […]
Dear sir: Rainy Lake is part of my back yard and I cherish it. We as citizens of Fort Frances and the Rainy River District live near and have daily access to unarguably one of the most beautiful lakes in Canada. Fine fishing, breathtaking scenery and wildlife watching provide hours […]
Hello Fort Frances Times, Just a quick note to express my appreciation of the fine job staff writer Jack Tynan has been doing covering the recent effluent spill. I’m hooked. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in terms of evaluations, clean up, legal implications, human and […]
Dear sir: We are responding to Mr. York’s recent letter to the editor (Aug. 15 Fort Frances Times) with respect to the following: River Walk is a non-profit condominium housing project being developed under the sponsorship of Fort Frances Non-Profit Innovative Housing Inc., (“Non-profit”). Non-profit is responding to a local […]
Dear editor: I am writing this letter as I feel a situation has gone on in this community too long and there appears no likelihood of it changing in the near future. I am speaking about the strike between the Fort Frances and District Association for Community Living and its […]
Dear Mr. Behan: We are fortunate in the Town of Fort Frances to have dedicated citizens who are willing to give their time to our community through service on both our Town Council and as our Mayor. In last weeks editorial it was suggested that our Mayor personally make the […]
To the editor: I read the quotes by Alanna Barr in last Wednesday’s paper about the strike. She chooses her words very well. I think the key sentence is “the services still being offered.” It is the services not being offered that concern me. As a parent of a handicapped […]
Dear editor, Hi. I am writing to you to let you know how bad I feel for the F.F.D.A.C.L. clients. It is a shame that this strike can’t be worked out for them. I know how I would feel because at one time I worked as a client. I worked […]
