Dear sir: The Northern Therapeutic Riding Association (NORTRA) would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who supported “Freedom Ride 2001” (horseback riders and motorcyclists). We have decided to have “Freedom Ride 2002” in the fall in hopes we will get more support. NORTRA also would like […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Hello: I just read the article [on the Times Web site] about the Canadian and U.S. native veterans that held the mourning ceremony last Tuesday morning at the Nanicost grounds. I generally do not send letters to newspapers but I feel compelled to share some of my thoughts. Please allow […]
Dear sir: As lay preacher and founder of the “Life Chain” event, I feel it would be beneficial to share some facts about this year’s “Life Chain” in your area. It will be unusual in that the Canadian one will take place the weekend before the one in U.S. In […]
Dear sir: If I lived 400 yards south of my house, I would be $20,000 in debt. That is the value of our Canadian health system. People must realize that much of our taxes to the federal and provincial governments are returned in the health care services. Locally, we can […]
Dear sir: I sure enjoy seeing your Web cam. I haven’t seen it in a while. I also make a couple of trips a year to fish on Rainy Lake–have been doing this for the last 30 years or so. I just love your country. Wish I could spend more […]

Dear sir: Hello to my friends in Canada, and particularly Fort Frances. On Sept. 14, my wife and I, after a week in the Canadian wilderness, were returning home to the Milwaukee, Wis. area. We encountered a long delay at the border, and were feeling frustated and somewhat testy at […]
Dear sir: It is with great disbelief that I find myself needing to write this letter in the aftermath of the tragic events of Sept. 11. Although I thought that I could not be more disturbed by a few ill-conceived comments at the tribute the town organized on Sept. 14, […]
Dear editor: I am directing this letter to all parents of school-aged children within the Town of Fort Frances. I am very concerned over the current school bus policy in place with our Rainy River District School Board. As the policy stands now, any child who enters senior kindergarten and […]
Dear sir: The Chapple Heritage Committee wishes to thank all those who helped with and supported Chapple Days on Aug. 10-11. This celebration would not be possible without the participation of our community of donors, sponsors, and volunteers. Whatever your part was in making this weekend a success, we thank […]
Greetings to Fort Frances: It’s that time of year where the 21st-annual Terry Fox Run is being held this Sunday (Sept. 16) in Fort Frances. I would like to take this time to wish all the volunteers and organizers for this year’s run all the best. I encourage the folks […]
Dear sir: As a former employee of FFDACL (front-line staff), I would like to speak to the strike issue. First of all, I would like to give you an account of a few of the incidents I witnessed with the clients. On two separate occasions, I witnessed a client crossing […]
