Dear sir: By means of this letter, our intent is not to publicly slander anyone. Congratulations to Brent Anderson and the RRWT committee on your hard work and dedication to making your tournament the success that it is. Unfortunately, some are quick to judge and criticize committee decisions when there […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: The Rainy River Walleye Tournament (RRWT) feels it is necessary to respond to the inaccuracies in Bill Godin’s letter that appeared in the Jan. 29 edition of the Fort Frances Times. First of all, it was not a quick decision. The decision to change dates has always been […]
Dear editor: It is my firm belief that Bob Nault has done an excellent job representing the interest of his constituents in Northwestern Ontario. In troubled times, the leadership of Mr. Nault and the Liberal party has positioned our country in the top economic position among the wealthiest countries in […]
Dear sir: I would like to voice my concerns of how the referees judged the Jan. 24-25 hockey games between the Thunder and Fort William First Nation Wolves in Fort Frances. I was very concerned on the Friday when I repeatedly saw violations from the Wolves’ team that where not […]

Dear sir: Last week, the secret files on the abdication of Edward VIII were released and they bring back memories of 1935. No mention has been made of the speech the King made in South Wales. Many of the coal mines were closed and the area was in bad shape […]
Dear sir: I am writing this letter in response to an article that appeared in the Fort Frances Times on Jan. 29. I cannot believe Dr. Sarsfield and his “team” from the Northwestern Health Unit would have the nerve to come out and directly point “the finger” at the residents […]
Dear sir: I am writing in regards to the Rainy River Walleye Tournament moving its date back one week. In the past, there was talk about moving the dates and it was said by committee members that they could not move do so because of the pumpkin festival. So, Dale […]
Dear sir: In regards to the story Jan. 15 in the Fort Frances Times, I thought your newspaper did a fine job in covering the dams issue. If the MNR would have done half the job your paper did, the public meeting would have had three times the amount of […]
Dear sir: I was happy to record my vote on the Web poll question about Dr. Pete Sarsfield earlier this month, but found that I could not include the votes of my other six family members. We are in total agreement with his move, albeit strong-armed, to make smoking in […]
Dear sir: Hi, it’s Rapid Robert again. Recently, for whatever reason, several people have asked me how long my wife, Eve, and I have been married. Maybe they are perplexed and wonder how one woman could stand a guy like me. I really don’t know, but the truth is, we […]
To the editor: To the persons who see gloom and doom if Wal-Mart is “allowed” to build here, I say, when and what is a good business to “allow” to build here? One that doesn’t sell or use “off shore” products, doesn’t pay minimum wage or very close to it, […]
