Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: I would like to use this forum to thank all of the generous people in the district who supported me during my “Joints in Motion” fundraising drive for the Arthritis Society. Thank you to all of the area businesses that donated prizes for my various events and a […]
Dear editor: We would like to express our sincere thanks to the “Community Chest” and the local unit of the Canadian Cancer Society for their financial assistance in 2004. One never plans for themselves or a family member to become ill. Unfortunately, my family knows all too well that that […]
Dear sir: I have finished nine weeks at the Envision North practice firm here and am feeling pretty proud of myself for a number of reasons. The main reason, though, is I can use a computer without the fear of breaking it, and am able to use the Simply Accounting […]
Dear sir: Re: the March 3, 2005 article, “Skate park designer to attend meeting.” I am 100 percent behind the creation of a skateboard park in the Fort. Before I started working for the MNR, I worked for five years at a bike, snowboard, and skateboard shop in North Bay. […]
Dear sir: I resisted writing in regards to Rev. Gord Waldie’s comments to local MP Ken Boshcoff, in relation to the definition of marriage debate, when it was in a previous issue of the Times. But when I read the one from “Out and Proud” Roy E. Wilson, FFHS Class […]
To the editor: I recently read a story by The Canadian Press where the Liberal government in Ontario is about to raise the electricity rates to large industrial users. They must be very blind. This province spends millions of tax dollars every year trying to bring industry to Ontario and […]
Dear editor: I would like to start by congratulating the Atikokan girls’ team on their Grade 8 basketball championship. I would also like to thank the referees who were consistent in their officiating of the games. Unfortunately, a team that earned its way to the gold-medal game was denied their […]
To the editor: The sport of hunting and fishing involves a great deal of time and patience. Sometimes it’s difficult to explain why we devote so much time and patience to a sport, especially to those who haven’t tried it. Some of us have even had thoughts like, “If only […]
Dear Mr. Behan: Never have I felt so compelled to contact the news media as I am now. I attended the Thunder/Ice Dogs game in Fort Frances on Feb. 22 and the disgusting display of sportsmanship clearly evident that evening should be brought before the courts of law after serious […]
Dear sir: I realize I don’t fit into the “letters to the editor” rules, but I still need to respond to Mr. Lowe’s letter of Feb. 23. I would urge Mr. Lowe to continue reading Genesis 19: 1-38 (the entire chapter). This is the story of Lot, the destruction of […]
Dear editor: When the Ontario government cancelled the spring bear hunt, I told them then that within a few years our moose population would be in trouble. Now it is. The reason for this is no boar bear being killed in the spring as 98 percent of all spring bear […]
