Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.

Viv O’Donnell Dear Mike: I would like to comment regarding the recent presentation to town council regarding helping seniors with removing the snow ridge after the plow comes by their residence. We are being encouraged by government to remain in our homes yet this problem is one which has not […]
Capt. Marlene Sandoval Dear editor: This weekend, we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with our families and enjoying a wonderful feast of turkey and pumpkin pie. Yet there are some families in our district who won’t celebrate Thanksgiving because they can’t afford to buy a turkey and all the fixings […]
Betty Sivonen Dear editor: Just a few words about the new dining area for residents and visitors at Rainycrest. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br. #29 in Fort Frances donated $10,000 for a sun room. Rainycrest bought a rocking chair, a couch, end tables, and an organ. It was a wonderful […]
Jessica Barker Dear Mr. Editor: Enough is enough. I am writing regarding the article in last week’s Times headlined “Muskie girls’ hockey team starting fresh.” I am glad that the girls’ team is starting somewhat fresh this year. But the line regarding the “pow-wow” incident upset me. Everyone knows what […]
Margaret Ann Hudson Dear Mike: I recently had the occasion to browse through the minutes of the Rainycrest Auxiliary which was formed in 1953—56 years ago. They had their first-annual tea in 1953 and the profits from that were a whopping $247.42. Some of the items there were able to […]
David Kircher Dear editor: The Oct. 6, 2009 Rainy River District School Board meeting has an amended purchasing policy on its agenda for approval. Diane Maxey Dear editor: As one of the organizers of Mike Freeman’s benefit social last Wednesday, I would like to personally thank all those who participated in any way to help make the evening such a success. Several people commented on the marvelous atmosphere in the room—one of warmth and […]
Deb Westover-Morriseau Dear editor: More than 50 people walked in the Tom Bruyere Memorial “Walk for Dialysis” last Friday—the most ever! They walked for dialysis, they walked for themselves, they walked for a friend or a family member. But first and foremost, they walked for Tom. They talked, they joked, […]
Wendy Agar Dear sir: On Friday, Sept. 11, the Friends of the Library held their annual “tag day.” We are very grateful to the local businesses which allowed “tagging” outside their premises. We also appreciate the publicity which the Times always provides for this event. Our fabulous September weather held […]
Ken Boshcoff Dear editor: Many people have commented to me about the excessive amount of advertising the prime minister is doing telling us what a wonderful job his government is performing. People can see through the fact the PM is just trying to convince us—with our own money—that we never […]
