Capt. Marlene Sandoval
Dear editor:
This weekend, we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with our families and enjoying a wonderful feast of turkey and pumpkin pie.
Yet there are some families in our district who won’t celebrate Thanksgiving because they can’t afford to buy a turkey and all the fixings that go with it.
That’s what our “Harvest of Hope” campaign is all about. It’s good friends like you linking your heart and hands with the Salvation Army’s Fort Frances ministries to do good in our community and district.
You see, a “Harvest of Hope” doesn’t just happen. It starts with someone whose heart is moved with compassion for the need of others. And that someone is you!
I know this because you already have demonstrated your heart-felt caring through your generous gift to our ministry in Rainy River District.
Once again, we need the support of the community in order to help these families in need. We want to give everyone a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families and enjoy the same feast that many of us take for granted.
And together we can accomplish so much . . . feeding the hungry with a decent meal in Thanksgiving celebration.
In a very real way, our partnership—you and the Salvation Army’s Fort Frances Ministries—helps bond our community and district together by offering a hand up to those who suffer, who are alone, who have lost their way in life.
Through the Thanksgiving celebration, we are asking for your support of our “Harvest of Hope” campaign so that we can continue meeting the demand of so many who need help.
We would welcome a gift of $25, $50, $100, or whatever is right for you. Donations can be sent to the Salvation Army, 316 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2C2 or you can make a short visit to our ministry, where we will be glad to see you with your gift to the less fortunate.
Committed to the Lord,
Capt. Marlene Sandoval
CO Fort Frances Ministries
P.S. You are the heart of our “Harvest of Hope 2009” and we are so grateful for your support!
