Ken Boshcoff Dear Mike: As an invited speaker to a pro-democracy rally in Thunder Bay last weekend, I was impressed by the all-party non-partisan messaging to the prime minister. By now it is apparent to most that the reasons given for proroguing Parliament, being the economy and market instability, are […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Craig Brockie Dear editor: Last week you kindly published a letter I wrote regarding the dangerous nature of the stock market at present. Thank you. This week, I wanted to share a little bit more information with your readers that I think they will find of value. Firstly, I’d like […]
Craig Brockie Dear editor: I am writing you with a single objective: to help as many residents of Fort Frances as possible avoid financial ruin. It pained me to see so many good, honest people lose so much of their hard-earned savings in 2008. I sincerely hope that readers of […]
Naomi McNeill Dear editor: Re: “Help someone take that first step” (Publisher’s Pen, Jan. 6). I commend this writer on highlighting the importance of encouraging others to quit smoking. As he mentions, breaking this strong addiction can be a process. However, the road to quitting—and enjoying the health benefits of […]
Al McTaggart Mr. Editor: Well, with the Christmas break, etc., we have had no government for about a month now. Mr. Harper has decided to extend this break a bit longer now so he can regroup and give the country a chance to enjoy the upcoming Winter Olympics. Enjoy the […]
Tyler Moffitt Dear Mike: Jim Cumming’s column last week, “No rock should be left unturned” (Publisher’s Pen), was an excellent view and picture on the current situation, with an important message with regards to the future, as well as opportunities for our area. I have worked at our local pulp […]
Mary Pasechko Dear editor: Once again, “Friends of Animals” was presented with a generous bag of goodies for the animals. Some caring soul included several warm fleecy throws, along with cat and dog toys. The card attached contained a very personal message but no name. If this donation is from […]
Wade Friesen Dear editor: Maybe it’s just the “greedy” capitalist in me, or maybe it’s all the American politics I have been watching on television, but I am getting so sick and tired of seeing governing bodies getting in the way of business and progress. Granted, I don’t have all […]
Paul Cousineau Dear editor: We have all been there as hockey parents. The team is ready to go on the ice and some sort of equipment malfunction happens, whether it is skates, mouthguards, or sticks. We do what we can so our children can play the game. But sometimes we […]
Diane Maxey Dear editor: Another Christmas season of music has come to an end. It has been a most wonderful two months of rehearsals and performances for all my groups. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank each and every one of the participants. They have shown […]
Bob and Pat Dakin Dear editor: Once again, St. Mary’s Church was the setting for a wonderful show. A super cantata was heard by one and all. Diane Maxey and her Choraliers were wonderful. Each year they can be counted upon to get everyone into the Christmas mood. Even though […]
John Kotnik Dear editor: The Fort Frances Lakers Junior ‘A’ hockey team played their best game of the year last night (Dec. 15) against the visiting Dryden Ice Dogs [a 3-2 loss in a shootout]. It is nice to see our young team in action and see the great improvement […]
