Paul Cousineau Dear editor: We have all been there as hockey parents. The team is ready to go on the ice and some sort of equipment malfunction happens, whether it is skates, mouthguards, or sticks. We do what we can so our children can play the game. But sometimes we […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Diane Maxey Dear editor: Another Christmas season of music has come to an end. It has been a most wonderful two months of rehearsals and performances for all my groups. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank each and every one of the participants. They have shown […]
Bob and Pat Dakin Dear editor: Once again, St. Mary’s Church was the setting for a wonderful show. A super cantata was heard by one and all. Diane Maxey and her Choraliers were wonderful. Each year they can be counted upon to get everyone into the Christmas mood. Even though […]
John Kotnik Dear editor: The Fort Frances Lakers Junior ‘A’ hockey team played their best game of the year last night (Dec. 15) against the visiting Dryden Ice Dogs [a 3-2 loss in a shootout]. It is nice to see our young team in action and see the great improvement […]
Capt. Angel Sandoval-Silva Dear friends, With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season upon us, it is so easy to lose sight of some of the important anchors that give stability to our life. Though this is not our intention, they simply get lost in the shuffle. Such an […]
Robert Berg Dear editor: I visited the old home town this past summer, and noted with interest the changes that have occurred in the two years since I was there. One thing of interest is the building of a new Robert Moore School. I must say that the reports of […]
John Albanese Dear Mike: I want to thank and commend the nurses and staff at the Northwestern Health Unit office in Fort Frances on handling the demanding start of the H1N1 and seasonal ’flu immunization campaign with great professionalism. They have tackled the strain of the ever-changing information and procedures, […]
Rahtez, Bell Park Academic Centre Dear editor: I am a Grade 4 student at Bell Park Academic Centre in Lake Echo, Nova Scotia. We are currently studying Canada as part of our social studies class. We would love for your readers to send us postcards telling us all about your […]
Diane Maxey Dear editor: I just returned home from the opening night of “Dreams,” the FFHS musical revue. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised how well everyone did considering the opening night jitters, which are completely natural. I was especially impressed with the choreography and the synchronization of […]
Davetta Sheppard Dear sir: On Thursday, Nov. 12, my husband and I were fortunate enough to receive our H1N1 shots at the local health unit. Due to our scheduling problems, we had to attend at different times. The wait was long for each of us, as were the lines of […]
Dave Goodman Dear editor: Where are the snowmobile trails? That’s a question we should not have to ask this year. After a big surge in support for the amalgamated Mine Centre, Fort Frances, Emo, Rainy River, and Nestor Falls snowmobile clubs, trail permit sales almost doubled last year. This left […]
David Kircher Dear editor: I agree with Mr. Ken Grynol’s recent letter to the editor regarding the accountability of the Rainy River District School Board and the missing funds from Fort Frances High School. In a Nov. 19, 2008 Fort Frances Times article, the chair of the board stated the […]
