Dear editor:
CBC, CBC French, CBCN, and TVOntario are all paid for by us, the Ontario taxpayer.
If we put up an antenna to try and get CBC and CBC French (one tower in Blackhawk and a second tower near Emo), only one channel can be tuned in at a time without turning the antenna.
Then there’s that other channel we, as taxpayers, pay for—CBCN—but it’s not even on one of our CBC towers.
TVOntario is being subsidized by the Ontario taxpayer, as well as being regarded as a public broadcaster, and solicits membership from the general public.
Apparently, if you live on the west side of Fort Frances, and in a certain line from a town at the Crozier office, you might get some reception. I have never been able to get a signal at the east end of Fort Frances.
I’ve talked to people in the west and the Fort who say signals we get in this area are poor. Those of us who still have an antenna on the roof get 11/12 channels from the U.S. that are crystal clear.
It seems if we want to watch Canadian-Ontario TV, we have to pay double: (1). taxes (2). second carrier.
What political party could, or would, bring the Rainy River Valley good TV signals.
(Signed),
Ed Haglund
