Dear sir: Local #92 supported the Northern Action Group and Ontario Coalition for Social Justice’s “Unfit to Govern” campaign across Ontario on April 27-May 4. Along with our national union, we encourage all Ontarians to review the slash-and-burn policies of the Harris/Eves Tory government policies. The drastic cuts in welfare, […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: On behalf of the Kidney Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Fort Frances, Couchiching, and Alberton for their generous support in our 2002 March Drive. Due to your contributions, $9,200 was raised. Each day, an average of 12 Canadians learn their […]
Dear Mr. Editor: I am a supporter of keeping the Alberton School open, and have been following your coverage of the whole closure process. The Rainy River District School Board will be meeting tonight to decide the fate of the school and I, for one, am praying for survival! This […]
Dear editor: We’re having a school reunion. Yes, we know there was a huge wonderful 75th not too long ago, but this is a smaller, limited one. The class of 1952 is celebrating 50 years since we all attended Fort High. Friday, Aug. 9 will be a wine-and-cheese registration night, […]
Dear editor: The Ontario Public Services Employees Union (OPSEU) labour dispute continues. The Ontario government is steadfast in its refusal to bargain a fair deal for 45,000 public service workers and taxpayers. We are in our eighth week. No mortgage payments made, no saving for university, no family vacations, no […]
Dear sir: Hi, this is “Rapid Robert” again. Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of static because I’ve not written one of my stories in the Times. You may remember some of my stories that I wrote about the loon and the time I rescued one that was in trouble, […]
Dear editor: Pledge sheets are now available for the Northern Therapeutic Riding Association’s annual “Freedom Ride,” which will be held Sept. 7 this year. A couple of horses are still available for participants. All proceeds from the sixth-annual ride will fund riding classes for children and adults who are physically […]
Dear sir: Thank you to all the friends and family in helping to make my dreams come true. A very special thanks to Anishinaabeg Counselling and staff for organizing this very special event. Also a special thanks to Elvis DeBungee and the Late Night Jammers. God bless you all for […]
Dear Mike: As co-ordinator of the 2002 Sunset Country Regional Science Fair, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank some of the individuals and corporate citizens of Rainy River District who participated in—and supported—our efforts to bring this event to Fort Frances. To the following judges […]
Dear sir: A bill now being debated before the House of Commons in Ottawa should be of serious concern to all livestock producers, hunters, anglers, trappers, and anyone who has in the past, or will in the future, benefit from modern medicine. The bill is Bill C-15B, the federal government’s […]
Dear editor: The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) labour contract dispute is entering its seventh week today. Talks have continued since April 2, but there is still no word or end in sight. A couple of things have changed since that time. Ontario has a new premier, Ernie Eves, […]
Dear editor: On Saturday and Sunday (April 20-21), members of the Rainy River Valley Field Naturalists spent about 40 man hours cleaning the islands and stretch of highway from the middle of the Noden Causeway to George Armstrong Road. This was done as part of our commitment to conserving and […]
