All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.

If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.

Dear sir: On behalf of the Kidney Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who made our March door-to-door canvass a huge success. Through our loyal captains, canvassers, and contributors, we raised 7,113 in our area this year, which covered Fort Frances, Couchiching, Stanjikoming, Blackhawk, […]
Dear editor: We had an opportunity to attend the meeting between the library board, Fort Frances town council, and school board officials regarding the building of a new library. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to mitigate long-term savings, in a joint venture between the town and the school board, […]
Dear sir: As president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1374, I am very concerned with the approach Greyhound had taken by serving notice to discontinue service to your and other localities in that area. If that statement is correct, I am also somewhat amazed they did not follow procedure as […]
Dear editor: I feel I need to address the citizens of Fort Frances and the patrons of the Fort Frances Public Library concerning numerous rumours and misleading statements that have been circulating throughout the community about the building of the new library. I hope the following Q & A will […]
Dear Mike: About $4,000 was donated in Lin Boileau’s memory to the “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign for a new library building in Fort Frances. Not a building to share with a public school. A library, to Lin, was a place to seek entertainment in the form of a […]
To the editor: I wish to thank your newspaper for the balanced coverage of the April 9 budget meeting of the committee of the whole of council (Daily Bulletin, April 10). Your reporter managed to pull out some significant points and quotations from a meeting that could be described as […]
Dear editor: I’ve sent a slightly longer version of this letter to Mayor Avis and the councillors of Fort Frances because as a former resident of Fort Frances and current cabin owner in Watten Township, I am deeply concerned that the tremendous foresight and vision of the Fort Frances Public […]
Dear Mr. Editor: Just a quick note to all Fort Frances taxpayers. Your response and support continues to be fantastic. It has been beyond expectations. A decision, with your support, has been made to have a community survey prepared. This survey will deal with subjects such as: (a). local media […]
Dear editor: Well, we just heard of another letdown for the people in our community. Greyhound Bus Lines has applied to discontinue its run from Fort Frances to Thunder Bay effective May 4. This bus runs five days a week. Why don’t they down scale to two-or three trips a […]
Dear sir: Last week’s edition of the Fort Frances Times contained several articles concerning projects affecting the future of the town. First there was the headline on the anticipated new library, as well as the Publisher’s Pen observation and lastly the committee report on border traffic. All very interesting and […]
