Dear editor:
Canadian Blood Services would like to thank all those who came to our Fort Frances clinics to donate blood on April 23-24.
The need for blood and blood products is always high, and meeting hospital demands is always a challenge for Canadian Blood Services. Your generous support will help us meet that challenge.
We welcomed 411 to our clinics and collected 362 units of blood, which will be used to help patients with trauma, cancer, leukemia, or bleeding disorders.
We also thank our volunteers and the business community for their contributions. Their gifts of time and products help to improve the experience for our donors.
Among those who attended the clinic were several first-time donors. We welcome their donations, and ask that they commit to donating again when we visit the Fort Frances High School on Wednesday, Sept. 10 and Thursday, Sept. 11.
In order to meet the expected demand for blood and blood products, Canadian Blood Services must attract more than 85,000 new donors this year.
We invite you to visit our website (www.blood.ca). There, you’ll find information on donor eligibility, the donation process, and the location of our permanent and mobile blood donor clinics.
We also invite you to consider making an appointment to donate when we return on Sept. 10-11. Call us toll-free at 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
It’s in you to give.
Yours truly,
Harvey Heather
