Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.

Darryl McLeod Dear Mike: This is in regards to the deer photo that ran in last week’s edition of the Fort Frances Times. The Ministry of Natural Resources followed up this public report from Nov. 24 and can provide the following information: Based on the photo, the symptoms are consistent […]
Dave Goodman Dear editor: Last year, the Borderland Snowmobile Club groomed and maintained more than 400 km of local snowmobile trails. This was made possible with revenue from permit sales and many volunteer hours. Unfortunately, permits sales and fundraising only covered about 75 percent of the $20,000 budget. Through NWOSTA, snowmobilers […]
Nick Wihnan Dear editor: I strongly oppose Fort Frances council’s efforts to encourage other local municipalities to lobby the Ministry of Tourism to relocated the tourist information centre in Fort Frances. The argument for urgent action stems on traffic flow from Canada Customs away from the tourist centre, thus American […]
Rudolf K.F. Zeitlhofer Dear sir: Most citizens don’t generally encounter the police on a regular basis, and it is easy to lose sight of the difficult and often thankless job they do. We have the good fortune to live in a relatively safe community. It remains safe because of the […]
Stan Hoard To the editor: I have done some travelling and never have I accessed a tourist information centre closer than what Fort Frances offers. A tourist entering Fort Frances from south of the border only has to make a left turn after leaving Canada Customs, drive a couple hundred […]
Ken Boshcoff Dear editor: Thank you for this opportunity to express my gratitude to the people of Fort Frances and Rainy River District for the honour of serving them as their federal Member of Parliament for the past four-and-a-half years. I offer my congratulations to Mr. Rafferty and have now […]
Tess and Robert Coish and family Dear editor: We would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody who donated treats and decorations for our ”haunted backyard” on Hallowe’en night. We are very pleased by the response of our community to help. It was a great success as we saw […]
Elma TuckerJan Chabot Dear editor: The Arthritis Society’s campaign this year was a great success! We would like to extend a “huge thank you” to all captains and canvassers who gave their time to come out and help us with our door-to-door campaign. Without you, we never would have been […]
