Brian Love Dear Mike: This is in response to the article from your March 4 edition of the Times headlined “MNR seeks feedback on moose tag draw.” I attended the Feb. 24 presentation by the MNR and O.F.A.H. president Jack Hedman, and I don’t believe the MNR is the least […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
David Kircher Dear editor: Thank you for the space provided in your newspaper for the letters submitted to the Rainy River District School Board. These issues affect all of us in the district, in particular, our children. This board, through its action or more accurately inaction, leaves one with the […]
Larry Wood Dear editor: Just to clarify a point made in your March 11 article, “District digging out from blizzard.” The U.S. National Weather Service office in Duluth, Mn. officially commences the snowfall season on July 1 (ends June 30); therefore the 284 cm (111.8 inches) amount represents the total […]
Bill KrukoskiAllan T. Bedard Dear Mr. Editor: We would like to provide residents in Rainy River District with an update regarding our previous letter seeking government action to protect the natural resources of Canada from being sold off by corporations. We further called on AbitibiBowater to place its Fort Frances […]
The Grade 3 class at Donald Young School Dear editor: Are you ready for gardening season? Gardening can be enjoyable for everyone. Experience the burst of flavours from your very own fresh fruits and vegetables. As you crunch and munch, you are doing your body a healthy favour! Not only […]
Cathie Sinninghe Dear editor: We live close to the “green space” on Nelson and Mosher, which currently is being looked at for rezoning to allow for the building of another condominium. I just found out that there have been a few town meetings regarding this possible development—and no one from […]
Paul Forget Dear editor: On a recent solo ice-fishing trip, my snowmachine failed to start at the end of the day. My family started to worry when I had not returned well after dark, so the OPP was called to get assistance in locating me. I had found shelter after […]
Douglas W. Judson Dear editor: I recently read a sobering article in which the federal NDP alleged the Harper government favours Conservative-held ridings for funding allocated to the construction of new First Nations schools. Grievous as this situation is for those communities in need, it’s also another illustration of the […]
David Kircher Dear editor: The following letter was sent to Dan Belluz, chairman of the Rainy River District School Board, and fellow trustees: Fortunately, no one became ill from the incident at Sturgeon Creek School. Unfortunately, that incident has helped to clarify and illustrate this board’s ability to oversee management. […]
Bill Krukoski Dear Mr. Editor: The town adopted a resolution and removed the traffic lights on Mowat Avenue at the corner where the duty-free store is (by Canada Customs). These lights cost tens of thousands of dollars to purchase and install. The town removed these lights, stating publicly that they […]
Kathleen Morrison Dear editor: On Wednesday, March 4, I and many Canadians watched on CBC TV two news stories that have generated a lot of feelings: the tragic and devastating events of Ashley Smith, who successfully committed suicide on Oct. 19, 2007 while in an isolated cell in Kingston Correctional […]
Andrew Szell Dear editor: In these troubled times of a crumbling economy, job losses, and financial woes, there is much finger-pointing going on and no shortage of “expert” advice or explanation from the so-called experts. If an alien would observe our society, he/she/it quickly would see that everything is revolving […]
