Dear editor:
The Youth Action Alliance would like to express its thanks and appreciation to town council and Dr. Lorena Jenks for their work in banning smoking near our Memorial Sports Centre doors.
We feel that educating the public on the dangers of second-hand smoke is necessary for the preservation of good health within our community.
The arena entrance is now safer and more welcoming without the large group of people crowding the doors. It also creates a better image for tourists passing through to see a vibrant community centre kept clean and welcoming for all visitors.
We especially appreciate Dr. Jenks because she brought the issue to light without offending the smokers.
Again, the YAA gives many thanks and appreciation to town council and Dr. Jenks. Great job!
