Peter Howie Dear Editor: Thank you for confirming in last week’s editorial that you were unable to verify the identity of “Nicole Sheppard”, the named author of a letter critical of Borderland Pride, which appeared in your June 17 edition. We take from this that the true author remains unknown. […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Jennifer Woods Dear editor, I have lived here for 36 years and have always wanted Fort Frances to have a better pool. Two of my children were on the swim teams here and each time I went into the pool area, I felt it was very dreary without natural light. […]
Rudolf K. F. Zeitlhofer Dear editor, It was a surprise to read in your editorial of June 24, 2020, that Freedom of Speech does not exist for Canadians, that it is an American invention. It was a surprise because it is so manifestly untrue. This is a canard that I […]
Jacklynne Guimond Dear editor, When a trucker has to apologize to a woman who sees him urinating on the riverfront because there are no facilities available, it is time to bring out the ‘porta potties‘. When folks stand behind the locked (and what should be condemned) toilets in Point Park, […]
James F. Kimberley Dear editor, I would like to make the following comments in your paper regarding the process to find a nuclear waste dump site here in Northern Ontario. The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) is in charge of finding a final resting place for highly toxic radioactive waste […]
Stan Tinkess Dear editor, I was just at my Grandparents grave tonight. I was shocked at how the cemetery looks. I don’t know how June Caul and the rest of the people responsible for running the town could ever let this happen. We planted our own flowers on our families […]
John Loewen Dear editor, We appreciate the police. We do not want the police to be defunded. That’s what happened in 1933 in Germany. And then the Brown Shirts went out to do their dirty work among the citizens – killing, robbing, destroying and other atrocities. A number of years […]
Jean Clink Dear editor, I am thankful that you printed so many fine letters in regard to the Gay Pride celebration, and letters which express a different view. Any group in our towns may hold a celebration and freely enjoy themselves. If we do not fly their flag, it does […]
Dr Bruce Lidkea Dear editor, Optometrists are the front line workers of the vision care system, and their services are at the heart of screening and diagnostic service in Ontario. We are passionate and proud to deliver high quality, highly accessible eyecare, in urban centres and rural communities across the […]
Nicole Sheppard Dear editor, I have been following along with the pride drama that is occurring in the town of Emo and I haven’t read any positive articles about the true feelings of LBGTQ persons in Emo. I am a bisexual woman living in Emo. I love it here. I […]
Bob Durnin Dear editor, I have been following the situation in Emo with interest and some concernment and while I seldom risk personal injury in a snowball fight, I cannot in good conscience remain silent. All the letters to the Ed, both pro and con have some merit – Luke […]
Dave Allison Dear editor, “Everyone Matters or Nobody Matters.” Harry Bosch Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. And just because you are right doesn’t make me wrong. And just because you are wrong, doesn’t make me right. Every human being on this planet goes to […]
