Dear editor: In comparison to letters dealing with the provincial election and school shootings, the topic of my letter probably will seem unimportant. It does, however, deal with a problem that concerns many people. On May 1 while out for a morning walk in the Windy Point area, I observed […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: I am writing this letter for a couple of reasons. One, remember your family and keep in touch. So much is lost because families do not keep in contact. Stories, tales, and history are lost if there is no one to continue to pass this information on to […]

To the editor: As a former resident of Rainy River District, a frequent visitor to the district, and a subscriber to the Fort Frances Times, I would like to point out a couple of facts to the Conservative candidate from Fort Frances in the upcoming provincial election. Ms. Beyak seems […]
Dear editor: On behalf of Front Street Manor’s tenants and staff, I would like to say a big thank you to Abitibi-Consolidated, Paul Bock, and Charlie Turgeon. We attended the community fire training on May 10-11. It was very interesting. I sure learned a lot about fire and the course […]
Dear sir: I am writing in regards to the article in the Fort Frances Times last Wednesday with reference to the nearly 100-year-old church in La Vallee. The church is actually only about 60 years old and not nearly 100 years old. The original church was completely torn down around […]
Dear air: Remember where gun control came from. I know it was a federal deal (Mr. Rock) but let us not forget this on June 3. Yours sincerely, Shane McQuaker
Dear sir: The “Great Dream” for our polticians begins. Anyone running for public office has honest ideas and intentions to do the best job for their constituents if elected. They are all getting “carried away” during the campaign with promises they are unable to keep, regardless which party is being […]
Dear sir: On behalf of the festival committee, I would like to thank all individuals, businesses, and organizations that helped make our 59th-annual Music and Drama Festival possible. I would especially like to say thank you to the volunteers who helped run the sessions, acting as chairperson, adjudicator’s assistant and […]
Dear sir: The weather was not warm or inviting but your generosity and goodwill shone through to help us achieve a very successful Tag Day for ’99 (May 7). Thank you for your contributions, allowing La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary members to further enhance patient care in our hospital. Each person […]
Dear sir: Mike Harris has one of the poorest attendance records in the Ontario Legislature compared to those of recent premiers. Since the Tories came to power, there have been a total of 214 votes called in the Legislature and Mike missed 158 of these (a whopping 74 percent). He […]
Dear editor: I would like to thank the many people who contributed once more to a very successful spring clean-up. Originally, the plan was designed to help senior citizens, disabled people, and those without access to a truck or trailer (or to a friend, relative, or neighbour who had one) […]
