Dear Mr. Editor: Again I would like to announce my frustration over the old Fort Frances Clinic. If Fort Frances taxpayers are on the hook for $1 million, we have a right to know what is going on—to the finest detail. We have a further right to challenge the wisdom […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: With the flurry of media activity highlighting the dangers of “ghost riding” and “trunking,” I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the risk and consequences of dangerous driving. A quick look on the popular YouTube website reveals how prevalent “ghost riding” and “trunking” have become. […]
Dear editor: My name is William Perrault and I served 11 years in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer (four years regular Army and seven years in the army reserve). During my time in the service, I had the opportunity of serving with NATO forces in Germany for two […]
Dear sir: I would like to say how much I appreciated the concert performed last Thursday night at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. I had heard that the Dordt College Choir was very good, but what we heard that night was—as the young people like to say—“awesome.” This choir […]
Dear editor: Recently, I had the opportunity to take my Grade 1/2 science students to Mr. Brian Church’s classroom at the high school to observe some lab demonstrations. The students currently are learning about liquids and solids, and Mr. Church agreed to my request to have them see some science […]
Dear editor: Re Harry Vandetti’s column from a few weeks ago about the old-style grocery stores and butcher shops of his youth. We are so very fortunate to still have one that has been here for many, many years. The butcher, I’m sure, would be pleased to slice you a […]
Dear editor: Firstly, we would like to thank all of our faithful supporters (individuals, businesses, and service clubs) for all your generous support this past Christmas season. By donating to us this year, you have made many families enjoy their holidays. Secondly, all the donations provided from you were used […]
Dear editor: Good day, I am writing this to you at 3 a.m. on Friday morning after being awaken ever so gently (being sarcastic) for the fifth time in a row, and countless other nights, as well, thanks to our wonderfully considerate truck drivers (wood haul to be exact). These […]
Dear sir: I live in the centre of Fort Frances, I like the quiet of the downtown and compared to many other locations where I’ve made my home, this place is generally quiet. However, there are many nights that I am awoken to the sound of someone banging large items […]
Dear editor: The McGuinty government extended the legislative session one more week earlier this month so they could give themselves a 25 percent salary increase before Christmas. Injured workers rallied in a number of communities seeking the same treatment only the previous week. The government representatives, from the minister […]
Dear editor: Recently, my Grade 12 sociology students received curriculum developed in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Ministry of Education. The project is called TAMI and the students are immersed in the issues surrounding mental illness, the stigma, the myths, and the reality of the major […]
Dear editor: From Amos Brielmann’s and Jurgen Schmutz’s letters to the editor last week, we all know it is illegal for a farmer to make a lunch and take it to work from his own uninspected beef that he raised. But on the other hand, the income tax law states […]
