Presumably, this legislation would be administered by their […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear sir: For many years, high school students in Atikokan have benefited from having a school bus based there. This bus has had numerous uses, both curricular and extra-curricular. Dear editor: Congratulations! You did it! Thank you to all who helped Atikokan win the Merit Prize for Fitness in this year’s Kraft “Hockeyville” competition! Your online support over the past three weeks has given us enough votes to win a day of on-ice hockey clinics with an NHL hockey […]
Dear editor: I would appreciate the opportunity to state my opinion. It seems to me that more and more frequently we are hearing that there is a diabetes epidemic in North America. In fact, there were news reports this past week on this very subject. If this is so (and […]
Dear Mike: I want to congratulate all the YBC bowlers who were in the zone round of the “4 Steps to Stardom” tournament held recently at Plaza Lanes against teams from Dryden, Kenora, and Atikokan. Our bowlers were excellent, with the local Bantam boys’ and girls’ teams winning gold, as […]
Dear editor: During the fourth draw of the Tim Hortons Brier on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton, the playing surface of the ice changed drastically after the seventh end of the game between Ontario and Manitoba to where it became almost impossible to place the broom for crucial draws, freezes, and […]
Dear editor: To the residents of Northwestern Ontario: Who do you turn to when there is nowhere left to go? If you are reading this letter, you may be one of the lucky people who has never had a need for your community legal clinic. However, if you are hungry […]
To the editor: Fort Frances town council will be convening an extra, added cost meeting March 2 to pass a bylaw implementing what amounts to a retroactive increase to our sewer and water rates. As they do so, I hope they will reflect on the past water and sewer increases. […]
Dear editor: Great sponsors for Canadian curling in the past, such as British Consols, Labatts, Kimberly Clark, and Air Canada, lasted considerably longer than sponsors in the past decade, including Nokia, M&M Meats, Tim Hortons, etc. But the current major sponsor for Canadian women’s curling, Scott Paper/Kruger, started 25 years […]
Dear editor: Recently, there have been several articles written in the Times regarding the Family Health Team concept. Some of these articles have been positive and some negative, and some have cited Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. as being involved on the periphery. Some clarification is in order regarding the […]
To the editor: On behalf of Canadian Blood Services, and those who have benefited from blood and blood products, I would like to thank everyone in Fort Frances who contributed so much to the success of our mobile clinics in 2006. Last year, 746 donors visited our clinics in Fort […]
