Jessica George Ivy Russell looked beautiful as she celebrated her 105th birthday yesterday with family and friends in Hallett Hall at Rainycrest, complete with presents and cake. She is the oldest person residing in Rainycrest, but is still very vibrant and well.

Local participants in the Alzheimer Society’s sixth-annual “Ride for Memories” headed out Saturday morning from The Harbourage here. More than 140 motorcyclists from across the region met in Rainy River for lunch, then travelled to Dryden for supper while raising roughly $33,000 for the cause.
“Country Blend” performed to an appreciative audience at the Emo Legion on Friday evening. Money raised from the evening will go towards the construction of the Dance Fire Memorial, which will be located on Highway 613 in Dance at the original homestead of Frank LaBelle.
A construction crew began digging this morning to install a storm sewer in the parking lot beside Pharmasave on Scott Street. The store intends to pave the area. Due to the tendency to flood, they are taking precautionary measures with the lot.
