Sending a few bowling balls down the lane yesterday was Maggie Jean. The free afternoon of bowling at Plaza Lane was held to kick off National Bowling Week. Free bowling will be offered there again Thursday from 7-9 p.m.
Betty Plumridge admired the Monarch Butterfly she released into the wild yesterday afternoon during the Rainy River District Palliative Care Program’s second-annual butterfly release at the Legion Park here. Nearly 20 people participated in the event. A butterfly release also was held in Rainy River on Saturday.

Children, accompanied by their parents, climbed aboard for their very first school bus ride outside Robert Moore yesterday morning during the Rainy River District School Board’s annual “First Rider” program. Aimed at children beginning school this fall, the youngsters watched a short video on bus safety before leaving.
