Michael J. Baranowski Dear editor, Oh how the game of hockey has changed from the better to the worst. Hockey was at its best with the initial six team format which included the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens in Canada and with the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Eric C. Keast Dear editor, While reading the Sept. 12 Fort Frances Times, I was struck by what appeared to be an orchestrated, multiple-entry religious attack on same-sex marriage. Three out of four “letters to the editor” had the same general form, paraphrased as: “… the bible does not mention […]
Marg Katerick Dear editor, With the Fort Frances Community Clinic converting the old library to a second location in the hopes of getting more doctors in Fort Frances, it would be of great benefit for the many district seniors, who will sometime or another require cataract surgery, to have a […]
Cleason Martin Dear editor: Let’s define what the Bible is. It is the Word of God. God Himself is the author. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. It is absolutely reliable. It is infallible. It is the only message in a book form given as a direct revelation […]
Cliff Huber Dear editor: Thanks to all the supporters for the nomination of Bill Selman to the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Special thanks to former locals Bob Peters, Art Berglund, and Bill Borlase for their detailed letters of support. Bill Selman, another Fort Frances product, is being inducted […]
Katherine Burns Dear editor: I am responding to the topic of same-sex marriage. Jesus tells us to love everyone. If we quit loving others, because they’ve sinned, we would love no one. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). However, Jesus doesn’t tell […]
Matthias Marx Dear editor: The other day, I went out to put my sheep in for the night. Five of them came when I called and settled for the night in the barn. The other two ignored my calling, ran the other direction, and enjoyed running around outside. I would […]
Duane Cridland Dear Mike: While golfing at Heron Landing on Monday, I dropped my money clip. It was a valuable memento to me yet a very simple thing. Chase Flinders found the clip, left the money in, and turned it into the clubhouse, where it found its way back to […]
Allan T. Bedard Dear editor: Just a quick note to all the retirees and surviving spouses of Abibiti-Consolidated (now known as Resolute Forest Products Ltd.) The Senior Retirees Against Pension and Elder Abuse will be holding a meeting to fill you in on the status of your pension plan—and the […]
Brenda McPhersonJocelynn Rancourt Dear editor: We are writing this letter to bring awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), which is an umbrella term that describes a range of disabilities that occur as a direct result of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Consumption of alcohol during pregnancy is one of the […]
Jacklynne Guimond Dear editor: Thank you, Knox United Church, for “drawing the circle wide” . . . for providing a place where “all are welcome.” Mainline and fundamentalist churches always have viewed the Bible through different lenses. There are, in both camps, those who choose to use Scripture as a […]
John Loewen Dear editor: To all the readers of this fine paper, I would like to express what the sacred Scriptures say about marriage as God instituted it. In Genesis 2:24 we read, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and […]
