Dear editor:
I am responding to the topic of same-sex marriage.
Jesus tells us to love everyone. If we quit loving others, because they’ve sinned, we would love no one.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).
However, Jesus doesn’t tell us to love their sins. For 4,000 years before Christ and 2,000 years since, God’s word has remained the same.
Even Jesus tells us that He did not come to change the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17).
So what gave our society the audacity to think we know better and that the law should be changed. If God wanted same-sex unions, he would have created Adam and Steve, rather than Adam and Eve.
As Christians, we must love everyone. But we don’t have to agree with or change our morals to be able to do that, and I am very sure that God didn’t send us a revised edition of the Bible to go along with our changing morality and beliefs from the past 50 years or so.
I’m pretty darn sure that He wants His word to continue, as is.
My real question is not with same-sex marriages, but in objection of why they would want to be married in church, where marriage is sanctioned by God, and why a church would change its values when God so clearly objects, as His words show.
