With the Fort Frances Community Clinic converting the old library to a second location in the hopes of getting more doctors in Fort Frances, it would be of great benefit for the many district seniors, who will sometime or another require cataract surgery, to have a physician from Thunder Bay come here as required to perform this procedure.
This would be much more easier than having each individual go to Thunder Bay, Winnipeg or Kenora.
Right now, those who require cataract surgery have to go out of town. This is not only expensive, but requires those getting cataract surgery either to have a personal driver or take the bus. With the busing schedule as it is, this means spending several extra days away from home in addition to your stay at the hospital, and you have to pay for accommodations.
Even though we are given a travel grant, it would never be able to cover our costs.
Cost-wise, it would be to the physician’s advantage to come here.
This would be beneficial to everyone in the surrounding area, and help people from all over the district.
Perhaps the physician could also go to Dryden.
I hope to get the public’s support with this and go forward.
