Dear editor: In recent months, many letters from Craig Nuttall, president of the local Progressive Conservative riding association, have appeared in area newspapers. It seems Mr. Nuttall must be fearful of Frank Miclash’s pending success in the upcoming election. Only someone so fearful would twist words or inaccurately misrepresent someone […]
Letters
All newspapers encourage letters to the editor and intend to print the opinions of their readers with as few restrictions as possible. The Fort Frances Times is no exception.
Rules governing letters to the editor in the Fort Frances Times are:
All letters must be signed, and the name of the writer will be printed with all letters published.
The writer must submit his/her letter in person and satisfactory identify themselves, or submit a telephone number to be used to verify that the letter was actually written by the person whose name is included on it, delaying publication if necessary to make the verification.
Letter will not be accepted from people outside the local coverage area unless the letters are written on a topic of primarily local interest.
If a letter attacks another individual or group, the Times will allow a response in the same edition.
Letters should not exceed 300 words and may be edited for length and content.
Dear editor: Frank Miclash and the Liberals are the only danger to Kenora-Rainy River’s health care system. Frank states that he will stop hospital closings in Ontario. This means he then will have to pay to keep half-empty hospitals in Toronto open. And where will this money come from? By […]
Dear sir: I have been told our local snowmobile club has purchased a new groomer. Now I wonder how many businessmen would put a bunch of inexperienced operators on this machine if it was their own piece of machinery, or even a few different operators–not qualified–to run it? Some of […]
Dear sir: I would like to thank some good Samaritans. My daughter, Amy, and I were in an accident on our way to Thunder Bay during the snowstorm on Nov. 10. We slid off the road and hit a rock cut. Thank you, Gar Faragher and Hugh Dennis, for getting […]
Dear editor, This past week, I had the privilege of attending the Premier’s Conference on the Economy: Jobs and Prosperity Ontario in the New Millennium, which brought together individuals from business, labour, Métis and First Nations communities, municipal and provincial government, and non-government organizations from all sectors of our region. […]
I am writing this letter in response to letters to the editor and accompanying articles which appeared in local papers dealing with the movement of minor hockey players between Rainy River and Baudette, Mn. In their separate letters, a mother and father expressed their views regarding a recent Minnesota hockey […]
Dear editor: I am enraged at the Fort Frances Times because of the “court news.” Where do you get the nerve to spread someone’s wrong-doing in the local paper for everyone to gawk at. In my opinion, they should change the article from “court news” to a two-horse town, look […]
Dear editor: I received my copy of the Sept. 16 Edition of the Fort Frances Times and read the article in the sports section about minor hockey icing a midget ‘AA’ team. I was delighted to see that this decision was made. The minor hockey board sure has come a […]
Dear sir: In response to the letters last week by Mrs. Leonard and Mr. Medicine on why one fish and game law is needed. If they don’t see why, then there is not much use in trying to make them see why. Simply put, one law is needed for the […]
Dear sir: I had the unfortunate experience of reading Allan Kielczewski’s letter to the editor in the weekly edition of the Fort Frances Times (Sept. 30, 1998). Mr. Kielczewski comments, “. . . aboriginal people . . . should be forced to obey our game and fish laws.” He hit […]
Dear sir: This is in response to Allan Kielczewski’s letter to the editor last week. As I read the letter, I felt anger, then common sense set in. I read between the lines and sensed right away that Mr. K. (I can’t even spell his name, much less say it) […]
Dear sir: We are delighted and thankful to God for the opportunity He has afforded us to minister in both the practical and spiritual work of The Salvation Army in Fort Frances. In the short number of days since we have arrived at Fort Frances, we have been so very […]
