Duane Hicks Local historian Merv Ahrens pored over a selection of photos by pioneer photographer William Tener yesterday at the Fort Frances Museum. Ahrens is creating a book showcasing some of Tener’s photos for “Canada 150.” See story, more photos on page A5.
Logs were loaded onto a CNR rail car in the “Cedar Yard” in La Vallee. Ahrens believes the logs likely were going to be used by CNR as telegraph poles. –Photos from the William Tener collection

Visitors to the Tener homestead in Devlin were caught on film here. Notice that most of the visitors are holding bunches of ferns or leafy bushes and there’s a small smokey campfire–both types of pioneer bug repellent aides.
