Forward Nick Hahkala took home the most improved player award at the Fort Frances Lakers’ annual awards banquet held Saturday afternoon at La Place Rendez-Vous. In his first season with the squad, Hahkala tallied six goals and five assists in 51 games.

A western scene from an old-fashioned saloon is one of the wood carvings on display at the Fort Frances Public Library right now. The pieces will remain on display until March 29. The library tries to display different community artwork throughout the year.
