Youth faces weapons charges

Fort Frances OPP officers responded to a disturbance on the 300 block of Third Street here on Saturday around 6 a.m.
A male was reported to be standing on the roadway, waving a knife and yelling. The male fled upon police arrival but subsequently was located hiding in the back yard of a residence.
The male, who is a young offender and cannot be named, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
He was held in custody pending his first court appearance yesterday.
In other news, a resident of the 400 block of Nelson Street reported an attempted break and enter to his residence.
The door was severely damaged in the attempt, but entry was not gained.
Elsewhere, Atikokan OPP officers attended the boat landing at Nym Lake on Monday in regards to a mischief complaint.
Sometime between July 1 and 2, someone threw a rock through a window of an unattended vehicle.
The OPP would like to remind motorists to take the time to ensure their vehicles are locked. It’s never a wise decision to leave anything of any value in an unattended vehicle.
