Press Release
The tuck shop at Rainycrest is run primarily as a service for residents there.
Many of the residents aren’t able to leave the premises so it provides them a place to buy snacks, drinks, and small gifts.
Family and visitors also stop in and purchase items on a regular basis.
Any profits made are used by the Rainycrest Auxiliary to enhance the quality of life for the residents.
The auxiliary provides this service for residents in two ways.
We purchase items, mainly snacks, cookies, fruit, and drinks, which we re-sell at a small mark-up.
The rest of our inventory comes in as donations from the public.
We always are amazed at the generosity of the people of Fort Frances and district when it comes to donating and volunteering for good causes in our community.
Most items donated to the tuck shop are sold there at a very reasonable cost to the residents and visitors.
If the tuck shop manager feels a donated item is not suitable for the shop (i.e., candles), or would be better used for another event the auxiliary is putting on, she passes the item on to it.
With the Christmas shopping season just around the corner, we are looking for gently-used items that residents may like to purchase for gifts.
Giftware, knick-knacks, jewellery, cards, books, scarves, purses, etc. are just some of the items in demand and very much appreciated.
Anyone wishing to donate items to the tuck shop may drop them off at Rainycrest on Monday to Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
