Trio of wins for Muskies

Staff

The Muskies had so much fun dominating the NorWOSSA court sports scene last season, they’re on their way to doing it again.
Fort High kicked off the regular season Tuesday afternoon by taking three of four matches against the visiting Kenora Broncos.
Sydney White had a game-high 13 points as the Muskie senior girls’ basketball squad routed Kenora 43-9.
Sarah Vandermeer added eight points while Abby Sanders had six.
The Muskie defence, meanwhile, held the Broncos to just two field goals in each half.
In junior girls’ action, the Muskies played nearly a perfect fourth quarter in rallying to a 30-20 win.
Trailing 18-14 entering the final period, the black-and-gold went on a 16-0 run to put the game away.
Adyson Wilson-Hands spearheaded the Muskie attack with 11 points.
Grace Petsnick added seven points while Sarah Larson netted six.
On the volleyball court, the Muskie senior boys’ squad took the first step towards repeating as league champs by sweeping the Broncos 3-0.
Fort High took the opening set 25-18, then pummelled the Broncos in the next two by identical 25-10 scores.
The junior boys were the lone home team not to get into the win column Tuesday as Kenora cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-17, and 25-19).
All four Muskie squads resume NorWOSSA play this Tuesday (Sept. 27) in Dryden.
Their next home action is scheduled for Oct. 6 against those same Eagles.
