Tickets still are available for the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s fall gala, this year entitled “Mobsters and Dames,” which is set for next Saturday (Sept. 24) at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
Foundation director Samantha Manty noted tickets for the annual event typically sell out quickly.
But due to having a larger venue this year, there is room for more attendees.
“This year we are hoping to sell 300 tickets while in the last few years we’ve done 200,” Manty explained.
“So we’re upping it by quite a large amount, and we’re really hoping to see [both] new and familiar faces out.”
Manty warned there aren’t many tickets left so people should get them as soon as possible before they’re gone.
Tickets cost $55 each, which can by purchased by calling Manty at 274-4803.
“If they haven’t come out to one of the Foundation’s galas before, this is one that they won’t want to miss,” Manty enthused, noting the Special Events committee has really gotten into the “Mobsters and Dames” theme.
The evening will feature “a meal fit for a mobster” prepared by local chef Todd Moxham, a dessert bar, live entertainment, live and silent auctions, a penny table, a big 50/50 game, fun mobster-themed games, blitzes, and a grand prize worth $1,800.
Manty added the committee is hoping event-goers will get into the spirit of the “Roaring ’20s” along with them by pulling out their flapper dresses and zoot suits.
“It’s a really fun evening for a great cause,” Manty remarked, noting all proceeds will support a complete “refresh” to Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home’s Special Care Unit.
The event gets underway with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30.
