The Muskie court teams did a pretty good job of defending home court Tuesday afternoon as they closed out their NorWOSSA regular-season action against the Kenora Broncos.
The junior girls’ basketball squad cruised to a 29-19 win over the Broncos (3-4) to finish the season in first place with a 7-1 record and earn a bye to the NorWOSSA final here this coming Tuesday (Nov. 6).
Aurora Hutton scored a team-high six points while Keisha DeBungie and Tatum Glowasky each added five.
Joanna Empey tallied four points and Becca Jourdain had three.
The seniors also were victorious, rolling to a 74-35 romp to finish the regular season with a 5-3 record, which was good enough for second place.
They’ll face the Broncos (0-7) in the NorWOSSA semi-final this coming Tuesday, with the winner to meet Dryden in the final.
Grace Petsnick led the way with a 15-point performance while Ellie Petsnick netted 13.
Jamie Spencer chipped in 11 points, Sarah Larson tallied eight, Janissa Judson had seven, and Rachel Anderson added five.
In boys’ volleyball action, the junior Muskies (5-3) snagged a 3-1 win over Kenora (2-5).
The set scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-18, and 25-17.
If the Eagles (4-3) beat the Broncos today, that will vault Dryden into first place and force the Muskies to battle Kenora in the NorWOSSA semi-final here Tuesday.
The senior spikers, meanwhile, finished the regular season with a 3-0 loss to the Broncos to head into the playoffs with a 2-5 record.
The set scores were 16-25, 13-25, and 17-25.
Kenora (6-1) has clinched a bye to the final, meaning the Muskies and Eagles (4-3) will battle it out in the semi-final this Tuesday.
