TD looking for tree planters

The local TD branch is looking for tree planters to help out with its “TD Tree Days” tomorrow in Barwick.
“It’s a Canada-wide thing where TD picks certain areas to provide funding,” explained Kayla Millar, manager of customer service at the local branch and lead for the project.
She noted it provides an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship in local communities.
“The idea is that they want to plant over 50,000 trees in Canada over the span of a week,” Millar said.
Over the past five years, thousands of volunteers have planted more than 185,000 trees through the “TD Tree Days” campaign.
And tomorrow from 1-4 p.m., they are planning to plant 600 trees at Sturgeon Creek School.
“We’re still looking for volunteers,” Millar noted, saying she’d like to have some community members come out and help the TD staffers who will be there.
Those interested in volunteering should register online at www.tdtreedays.com
“Just search ‘Barwick’ and it will pop up with the date and time,” Millar explained.
“They can sign the liability waivers on the website.”
But she added if people don’t sign up in advance, they will have the forms available on-site.
TD also will be providing some snacks and water for the volunteers for the afternoon.
“We’ll be out there rain or shine,” Millar stressed.
She added the trees will be seedlings and she doesn’t expect it to take too long to complete.
