Fort Frances Aquanaut Donovan Taylor hauled in a trio of medals at the Swim International meet Nov. 7-9 in Brantford.
The 14-year-old swam in eight events but earned his best finish in the 200m backstroke, clocking a time of 2:16:13 in the final to nab the silver medal.
He also grabbed bronze in the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:04:13, as well as another third-place finish in the 200m IM (2:19:41).
Each of his times was a personal best for Taylor, who is well on his way to another successful swim season.
“This early in the season, to be where he’s at is nice, because we have him geared to peak in February,” said his mother, Dawnn, who also is the Aquanauts’ coach.
“Things are looking good, definitely.”
The event in Brantford featured more than 900 swimmers, including some from New York state and Quebec, which made for a very competitive field.
Taylor narrowly missed the podium in the 50m freestyle, clocking a time of 26:12 in the final to finish fourth. His preliminary time of 26:05 was even faster in that event.
He also finished fifth in the 200m freestyle (2:04:44).
He swan the 400m IM in a time of 5:02:42 to finish sixth, and then had two seventh-place finishes in the 400m free (4:25:24) and 100m free (58:02).
