Syncor eyeing Huffman lots

More lots could be bought up at the Huffman subdivision here.
Syncor Contracting Inc., which is hosting an open house here next Wednesday (April 13), wants to option 12 of the 16 lots to develop into single-family dwellings.
While any agreement still is being discussed by town council and administration, Syncor’s hope is to build houses for interested buyers.
“We’re going to end up with five or six different house plans for single-family dwellings—bungalows and bi-levels,” noted Syncor spokesperson Len Smart.
“Then there will be a list of options for people.
“Some of the lots are different prices—we have no control over that,” Smart added.
“Corner lots are a little more expensive and bigger lots are a little more expensive.”
Smart said Syncor is optimistic there’s a market for new housing in Fort Frances thanks to New Gold’s mining project in the district.
Over the past couple of years, the town has sold just two of the 16 lots in the Huffman subdivision.
As reported last month, Syncor also has bought land on Front Street to develop town homes, and is looking at possibly developing town homes at the site of the former Alexander Mackenzie School.
Syncor will host the open house next Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Copper River Inn, which will be an opportunity for the public to learn about its development plans here.
The public is urged to review floor plans, discuss options, and learn more about pricing.
