‘Spring Fever Days’ all set to go in Emo

Robin McCormick
Devlin correspondent

Emo is hosting its annual “Spring Fever Days” event tomorrow through Saturday (April 19-21).
Come out and enjoy great sales while entering all the free draws.
As always, the Emo Legion will host its soup-and-bun luncheon.
This always proves to be a fun-filled weekend, with lots of socializing and reconnecting with this dynamic little community.

Cora Olson was honoured with a baby shower on Saturday (April 14) at the Devlin Hall, which drew a large crowd of well-wishers.
Cora was lavished with lots of holding, gifts, and love. Proud momma, Nicole Beadle, and grandma, Sandy, plus great-grandma Sylvia, enjoyed the shower immensely.

A reminder the Devlin/La Vallee Fire Department will hold its second spaghetti supper fundraiser this Sunday (April 22) at the Devlin Hall
Tickets can be purchased for $10 from any fire department volunteer or at the door for $12.

A sure sign that spring is coming (believe it or not) is the annual T.O.P.S. salad supper, which will be held on Monday, May 28 this year.
More information will follow.

Lois Caul won $419 on the “Chase the Ace” draw held Saturday in Emo in conjunction with the Rainy River “Gold Rush Gala.”
Hats off to all the organizers, donors, and people who attended the gala. The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society’s board of directors will use the monies raised to better the fairgrounds in Emo.

Sometimes a sadness covers not only our small Devlin/La Vallee community but the entire Rainy River District. And sadly that has happened.
The passing of Tristan Webb has left a big hole in the hearts and souls of his large, supportive family. But also every parent and grandparent, as well as anyone who has ever loved a child the way Tristan was loved.
May the many people grieving find some peace in knowing the entire district is holding you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Sincere sympathy, as well, to the family and friends of Stuart Firth on his sudden passing. Our community is sending you our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Cherish your many special memories with this strong dynamic man.

Robin’s 2¢:
Sometimes when our community is grieving, a joke or 2¢ just isn’t suitable
So this week, my 2¢ is to encourage everyone to love a little stronger, live a little larger, and make those close to you know how important they are to you.
