‘SAGES’ meets on Thursdays

A group calling itself “SAGES” (Sage Advice and Gentle Exercise for Seniors) meets at Guthrie United Church in Devlin every Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
SAGES is an exercise program specifically designed for older adults. It includes Tai Chi movements, nutrition breaks, and information sessions.
Their last Tai Chi session is slated for Aug. 21. The group now is recruiting facilitators so the program can continue with another 10-week session in the fall.
If you are interested in becoming a SAGE facilitator, would like more information about the program, or would like to register to take part, call Megan Bale at 482-2211 ext. 222.

Reigning Emo Fair Queen Chelsea Bragg, 1st Princess Sairah Chabot, and 2008 candidates Lauren Davis, Dana Drennan, Ashlee Nordstrom, Janel Barker, and Alyssa Strachan were presented to the spectators at Saturday night’s stock car races in Emo.
Each girl arrived in front of the grandstand on the back of a stock car. Then during the races, the girls invited children down for some face-painting.

The next men’s breakfast meeting will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion. The guest speaker this month will be Frank Drown, who went to Ecuador with his wife, Marie, as missionaries in the late 1940s.
In 1956, five fellow missionaries, Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Roger Youderian, Ed McCully, and Pete Fleming were killed by the tribespeople they were trying to reach.
Frank, who worked together with these men, was assigned to lead the search team in finding their missing bodies.
God not only spared the lives of Frank and Marie back then, He has continued to bless them with good health—allowing them to share the amazing story to this day.
The couple also will be speaking on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the
Christian Fellowship chapel in Stratton and then that evening at 7 p.m. at the
Christian Reformed Church in Emo.
