Sabres sputter

Anyone hoping for Christmas to come early last night for the Fort Frances Jr. Sabres surely were let down as the Dryden Ice Dogs triumphed over the visitors yet again, this time by a 5-2 score.
The Sabres got on the scoreboard first, thanks to a power-play goal by Chad Reynolds, but quickly were buried by five-straight tallies by Dryden, including Colin McIntosh’s league-leading 25th.
Mike Ainsworth netted the Sabres’ final tally in the third period.
The match didn’t disappoint fans of the rivalry that has yielded seven-straight wins for the Ice Dogs in the Sabres’ short history.
There were a number of rough plays and fights in the third period last night, with Will Morrisseau, Reynolds, Brendan Baumgartner, J.P. Boucha, and Colin Spencer all assessed fighting majors.
The Sabres head to Thunder Bay this weekend for a two-game series with the Bearcats.
